General Program FAQs
General Program FAQs
Who provides the content and support for this certificate program?
Google creates the content, Coursera hosts it, and Pathstream provides learner support. Your instructor, provided by Pathstream, is here to help you succeed!
Where can I find the learner handbook?
Your learner handbook is linked in the welcome email that you received on the first day of your program. The handbook contains information about academic and enrollment policies, and how to get help. You can also access the handbook by clicking here.
What’s the best way to get help during the course?
You can email your instructor (simply respond to any of their weekly program emails), or sign up for live Office Hours via Zoom. The Office Hours scheduling link is also in the weekly emails.
Where can I access the course materials?
All course content is hosted on Coursera. You’ll use your Coursera login to access all of the course content and assignments.
How will I receive my certificate?
Upon successful completion of the program, Coursera will auto-issue your certificate. Pathstream does not issue certificates, and we cannot access your certificate.
Once you successfully complete the program, you can find your certificate in your profile. To view your certificate:
Go to Coursera.org
Open the drop-down menu in the top right corner ( look for the circle with your first initial).
Click Profile.
Look for your certificate on your Profile page.
Learn more about certificates in the Coursera Help Center.
Will I still have access to my Coursera courses after the program ends?
After your program end date, your access will end unless you already have a personal Coursera account with an active subscription. If you would like ongoing access, you can purchase a personal Coursera plan separately.
Login & Account Setup
Login & Account Setup
I clicked the Coursera invite, but can’t access my courses. What should I do?
When creating your Coursera account, make sure to choose the correct login option:
If you already have a Coursera account with the same email address that Pathstream used to enroll you, select “I’m an existing Coursera user.”
If you don’t have an existing Coursera account, or your Coursera account uses a different email than the one Pathstream used to enroll you, select “I’m a new Coursera user.”
If you choose the wrong option, it can block your access to the course.
Still getting an error? No problem—just email us at [email protected] and include a screenshot of the issue. We’ll help you get it sorted out quickly.
I accidentally changed my email when creating my Coursera account, and now I can’t access the program.
Changing your email address during setup will break the invitation link. Please log out and use the original email invite you received. If you have already changed it and can't log in, please email [email protected] so we can re-invite you to the program.
Grades & Assignments
Grades & Assignments
How do the courses work?
Your Google certificate program will consist of multiple courses (exactly how many varies by program). Within each course, there are several modules to complete. Modules will contain videos and readings on a focused topic, as well as assignments. Here is an example module from the Google IT certificate program:
How will I be graded?
You’ll be graded on quizzes, interactive exercises, and labs. You need to earn at least 80% on each graded item to pass.
Can I retry assignments if I don’t pass the first time?
Yes! You can resubmit assignments until you pass. We recommend reviewing the relevant course content between attempts to ensure you are absorbing the material.
How do I know if I’ve passed a course?
You can find all of your grades on the Coursera platform. To pass each course, all graded activities must be completed with a minimum grade of 80%.

How do I schedule Office Hours with my instructor?
The Office Hours scheduling link is included in your weekly emails from Pathstream. We recommend bookmarking this link for easy reference!
Office Hours are 15-minute one-on-one Zoom sessions with a Pathstream instructor that you can use to ask content-related questions.
What if I can’t attend Office Hours during the scheduled times?
Email your instructor to try to coordinate a different time that works for you. You can respond directly to any of their emails to get in touch.
How quickly will my instructor respond to emails?
Instructors generally respond within one business day. If you message them on a weekend or holiday, they’ll reply the next business day.
How can I turn off Coursera email notifications?
Pathstream is unable to change your Coursera notification settings. You must update these settings yourself, in your Coursera account. To update your communication preferences:
Log in to Coursera.
Go to your Settings.
On the side of the page, click Communication Preferences.
Uncheck the emails you prefer not to receive.
Click Save.
You can also unsubscribe from all emails by checking 'Opt-out of all Coursera emails' at the top of the page.
How can I change my email address?
If you wish to change your email address, you must inform Pathstream of the change and update your email address in your Coursera profile. Pathstream is unable to change the email you use to login to Coursera, but we do need to be notified if you change it so that we can update your information in our systems.
To request an email change with Pathstream, please reach out to [email protected].
To update your email address in your Coursera profile:
Go to your Settings in Coursera.
Update the ‘Email address’ field.
Click Save.
Note: You will not be able to use an email address that is already registered to another Coursera account.
Program Requirements
Program Requirements
What are the technical requirements for the course?
You can review content on most devices, but you’ll need a computer (laptop, desktop, or Chromebook) for quizzes and interactive labs.
Can I use my phone for the entire course?
You can view videos and readings on a phone, but a computer is necessary to complete assessments and interactive exercises.
How much time should I spend on coursework each week?
Successful learners typically spend at least 3 hours per week working on course content. The program is generously paced across 30 weeks to help you better fit coursework into your busy schedule—but you can move faster if you’d like!
Life got in the way and I need more time to complete the program—what should I do?
A one-time program extension of 3 weeks is available for you to use with no penalty. You do not need to request to use the extension—it is automatically available to you.
We encourage you to stick as closely to the course schedule as you can in order to ensure you can complete on time. The program is generously paced over 30 weeks to allow for flexibility, but many learners have completed it in much less time. We recommend blocking short learning bursts on your calendar each week to fit coursework into your schedule.
Some learners use a digital tool like Google Calendar, or write out a schedule and hang it on the fridge. Here’s an example:

Can I drop the program and get a refund?
Yes, you can drop the program within the first 14 calendar days and your employer education benefits will not be utilized. If you don’t log in to the Coursera platform within the first 14 days, you will be automatically unenrolled.
After the 14th day, your enrollment is confirmed and your employer education benefits are utilized for tuition. If you wish to withdraw after the first 14 days, you will not be eligible to have your employer education benefits returned. Please email [email protected] for support with a drop or withdrawal.
What happens if I don’t log in during the first 14 days?
You’ll be automatically unenrolled and your employer education benefits will not be utilized. If you wish to reapply at a later time, you may do so by logging into your Guild portal and submitting a new application.
It’s not a good time for me to complete the program—can I restart at a later date?
In the event of extenuating circumstances that prevent you from being able to complete your program on time, you may request a one-time deferral to a later cohort. A deferral allows you to restart the program at a time that works best for you. You must defer into a cohort starting within the next 3 months.
When you defer, any progress you made in your courses will not transfer.
If you are within the first 14 days of your program, you are not eligible for a deferral. Instead, please email [email protected] to request to drop the program.
If you do not login to the Coursera platform within the first 14 days, you will be automatically unenrolled.
